About

Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove fat from specific areas of the body, enhancing body contour and proportion. It's not a weight loss solution, but rather a way to target stubborn fat deposits. Risks include infection, bleeding, and uneven fat removal. Recovery involves swelling and bruising. Various techniques exist, each with its own considerations.

Liposuction is done in the area where there is maximum fat deposits such as the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, thighs, arms, chest, and face. There are other plastic surgeries which can be done simultaneously such as breast reduction, facelift, and tummy tuck. Liposuction helps in weight loss because of the removal of fat surgically but is considered more of a body contouring than weight reduction. Liposuction procedures are carried out by exceptionally skilled medical professionals who prioritize meticulous care and attention in every surgery they perform.

FACIAL LIPOSUCTION

Facial liposuction additionally called submental liposuction, is a cosmetic surgery which is a single process to remove excess facial fat or to uplift jawline and rejuvenates your face. It helps to remove neck fat and with precise incision helps to contour your face. Patients with juvenile skin, strong bones, good muscle tone are only recommended to undergo this process. Various techniques are followed for facial liposuction. There are broadly four methods of liposuction. They are:

  1. Tumescent liposuction
  2. Super wet technique
  3. Ultra sound assisted liposuction(UAL)
  4. Laser assisted liposuction(LAL)

Technique

TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE:

A large amount of (1-4l) of Klein’s solution is given as anaesthesia which also ballons up the fat tissue and prevents bleeding. Then several percolations are made into the skin which are called adits (1-3)mm to introduce microcannula. Then the excess fat is sucked out of the microcannula. The incision wounds of the microcannula is left open to drain out the fluid, usually it takes two days to drain out the fluid. Then bandages are applied and patient is released.

SUPER WET TECHNIQUE:

It is similar to tumescent technique except that it does not use as much fluid as in tumescent technique. It uses regional anaesthesia and moderate tension are applied. During this method surgeons don’t have to wait for the swelling as in case of tumescent liposuction method.

ULTRASOUND ASSISTED LIPOSUCTION(UAL):

This process involves removal of excess fat from patients face using ultrasonic waves which liquefies the fat. Later the fat is sucked out of the body using cannula or a medical vacumm. UAL should not be used s dry procedure and is accompanied with wet techniques. Two different types of ultrasonic liposuction are performed: internal ultrasonic liposuction and external ultrasonic liposuction. In internal ultrasonic liposuction procedure a probe is inserted into the targeted area which emits ultrasonic sound and liquefies the fat. In case of external ultrasonic process high frequency of ultrasound waves are transmitted into wetted tissue outside the body through the skin. Then the excess fat is sucked out through usual process.

LASER ASSISTED LIPOSUCTION:

It is associated with using laser beams as medical equipment to liquify the fat at the targeted area. It is a minimal tedious process. This process is also known as lipolysis. The procedure is effective and can be used to endure fats at parts like stomach, chin, arms.

Frequently Asked Questions

During liposuction, small incisions are made in the targeted area, and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted to suction out the fat.

Good candidates for liposuction are generally healthy individuals with localized fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise.

Common areas treated with liposuction include the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, chin, and neck.

Recovery time varies depending on the extent of the procedure and individual healing, but most people can return to work within a few days to a week and resume normal activities within a few weeks.

Liposuction is not effective for treating cellulite, which is caused by fibrous bands beneath the skin pulling down on fat cells. However, some patients may see some improvement in the appearance of cellulite after liposuction.
